Brandon Wu

We're excited to welcome rising golf star Brandon Wu as a founding member and Hyperscapes' first touring professional. Brandon is currently playing on the DP World Tour and brings a team-first mindset shaped by his years at Stanford. As he travels the world competing, he's helping Hyperscapes grow: testing our course, sharing his journey, and showing what a digital golf experience can be.

How did your journey into golf begin?

Growing up I played a lot of different sports. I played baseball, swam for a long time, but I really started to get into golf when my dad took me out on the driving range. He even let me drive the golf cart sometimes! I liked the challenge, the quiet, and how much of it came down to you.

Your mix of intellect and athleticism propelled you to Stanford, where you earned your product design degree. How did playing for your university’s golf team shape your view of the game?

College golf was a special time for me. Playing for something bigger than yourself and being part of a team adds a whole extra level to golf. Team mates working together with you, coaches helping bring the best out in you and a whole bunch of people cheering you on, it doesn’t get any better than that. I still think of golf as something we build together. It’s a shared experienced.

What drew you to join a digital golf club like Hyperscapes?

It's the bespoke golf design that got me. Owning and playing a digital course built on an impossible terrain on which we could never build a real course: it's so bold!

You mentioned golf design. What stood out to you about Rocabarra Cliffs’ course design?

Most digital golf looks good but doesn't play like real golf, there's too often style over substance. Hyperscapes is different: shaped by professionals who are the best in the golf design trade. When I saw the routing made by Nicklaus Design and realized I'd get to play-test it, I was all in. This isn’t just a digital club, it's a serious golf course.

You'll be play-testing the digital course as it evolves. What will that look like in practice?

I'll get early access to the course builds, give feedback on playability, and help shape the feel from a player's perspective. It's pretty much a dream gig. Like a test driver in a Formula 1 car, I guess!

What does it mean to you to be the first-ever touring professional with a digital club attachment?

It's a unique partnership. I’m not just playing for a club, I'm bringing the club along with me, quite literally. I’m currently playing on the DP World Tour, which is the most international tour in golf. We're travelling to a new country every week. For me, representing Hyperscapes means introducing it to new people, new places, and helping it grow beyond borders.

What's been fun part of being involved with Hyperscapes so far?

Honestly, just being part of something radically different. The conversations, the energy, the creativity around the course development and the user experience. It may be slightly cliched but it really feels like Hyperscapes are showing the world a revolutionary new way of being part of a golf club.
